FWD (pronounced ‘forward’) is a landscape architecture, public art & urban design practice.

We are a worker-owned cooperative and certified woman-owned business (WBE), with offices in Brooklyn, New York, and Oakland, California.

Why are we worker-owned?

Worker-ownership embodies our values in shared power and prosperity and provides a critical alternative to traditional business models.

FWD sits within a national and international network of worker-owned businesses and is among a handful of U.S.-based architectural design cooperatives.

In order to provide ownership opportunities to non-licensed professionals on our team, as well as offer the full suite of landscape architectural services to clients, FWD is comprised of three business entities, which are incorporated in New York and California. With these entities in place, we can do the work we love while creating an ownership structure that reflects the multidisciplinary nature of our work.
